Anhinga, Sarasota Bay, January 2018

Anhinga relaxing near Sarasota Bay, January 2018

I sat there drawing this anhinga for about three hours, captivated by his/her plumage and elegance. It was a humid day so sometimes he would spread his wings. This was created near Tampa Bay, Florida, near a canal full of activity. The bird wasn't phased.

This was drawn, taking three hours or so, using Faber Castell pencils, a Derwent Pencil and Rembrandt archival pastels. It is on a slightly fibered gray ground sturdy paper.
