Roses and Pulitzers

Finally able to get back to some painting - it's been far too long. Sat in the backyard yesterday and painted this freshly picked rose:

Which, amazingly, has already been sold (the painting, not the flower.....).

And, because I'm extremely proud of my family, there's this:

For the first time in its 170 year history, the Associated Press has been awarded the 2016 Pulitzer Prize in Public Service. Congratulations to my sister-in-law Kathleen Carroll and the team of journalists, all of who happen to be women, for their life-changing investigation of severe labor abuses tied to the supply of seafood to American supermarkets and restaurants. Their reporting freed 2,000 slaves, brought perpetrators to justice and inspired reforms. Proud to know you!

Yep, that's my sister-in-law, Kathleen Carroll and her team of investigative reporters that have won the Pulitzer today. The series of articles is breath taking; see them here.

Wish my mom was around to enjoy this!
